Wood Refinishing (WR)
Give your boat’s wood surfaces a new life with professional refinishing
Service Description
Restore and Protect Marine Wood Properly Boat Wood Refinishing is a structured marine restoration service designed to revive and protect exposed exterior wood surfaces including teak decks, handrails, toe rails, steps, trim, and caps. The Problem Freshwater UV exposure, moisture cycling, foot traffic, and failed coatings degrade marine wood quickly. Teak turns grey, fibers lift, coatings peel, grain raises, and protection fails. Once wood absorbs moisture, cracking and long-term deterioration accelerate. The Process Each project begins with a condition assessment. Depending on surface integrity, we perform controlled cleaning, coating removal, precision sanding with proper grain direction, dust extraction, and surface neutralization. Edges are preserved. Fasteners and seams are protected. Where required, multi-stage sanding restores uniform tone and surface integrity. Materials & Protection We use marine-safe cleaners, professional abrasives, and high-performance marine oils, sealers, or varnish systems selected for Ontario freshwater conditions. UV protection is built into the finishing stage to slow future degradation. Environmental Responsibility Dust containment, responsible coating removal, and marina-safe product selection protect surrounding vessels and waterways. Outcome Wood surfaces regain depth, uniform tone, and structured protection. Decks become safer underfoot. Rails and trim regain definition and durability. Ideal Client Owners who value long-term preservation, resale positioning, and professional marine craftsmanship—not cosmetic shortcuts. Minimum combined project value: $1,500 CAD (excluding materials). 6️⃣ FAQ Section How often should boat wood refinishing be done in Toronto? Most teak requires professional restoration every 2–4 seasons depending on exposure and maintenance. Is sanding always required for boat wood refinishing? Not always. Light weathering may require cleaning and re-sealing only. Severe greying or coating failure requires sanding. What finish is best for exterior marine wood? The right finish depends on use, exposure, and owner preference—oil, sealer, or varnish systems each have advantages. Can grey teak be fully restored? Yes, if structural fibers remain intact. Severely neglected wood may require deeper restoration stages.
